The Champions Squash League (CSL) is Pakistan's top-flight squash competition. Structured around city-based franchise teams, the league pits the country's finest men and women players against one another in head-to-head ties that combine individual excellence with team pride. CSL is the answer to decades of underinvestment in the sport that Pakistan, above all other nations, made its own.

“Pakistan built squash’s greatest dynasty. CSL is built to begin the next one.”

About Champions Squash League

Pakistan's Squash Legacy

For nearly half a century, Pakistan stood unchallenged at the summit of world squash. Hashim Khan seized the British Open in 1951 and dominated the sport through most of the decade, winning the title seven times. Azam Khan, Mohibullah Khan, and Roshan Khan extended the dynasty through the 1960s and 1970s. Then came Jahangir Khan, who won ten consecutive British Opens between 1982 and 1991 and claimed six World Open titles, producing one of the most formidable winning runs in the history of any sport. Jansher Khan followed with eight World Open crowns between 1987 and 1996. No country has ever produced a succession of world champions to match what Pakistan gave squash. The sport owes this nation a debt; CSL is Pakistan’s way of collecting.

Why Now

Pakistan’s dominance faded in the late 1990s, and with it went the infrastructure, investment, and media attention that sustain elite sport. The talent never disappeared. The passion never disappeared. What disappeared was the professional league that could channel both into competitive excellence. CSL addresses that gap directly. It gives players a competitive home, gives cities a team to rally behind, and gives fans a season of squash worth watching.

Vision

CSL aims to be South Asia’s most competitive, most watched, and best-produced squash league. It will attract the finest local and international talent, build a lasting commercial ecosystem for the sport in Pakistan, and inspire the next generation of Pakistani world champions.

Mission

To restore squash to the center of Pakistani sporting life through a professionally run, internationally broadcast franchise league that upholds the highest standards of competition, governance, and player welfare.

The Franchise Model

CSL is organized around city-based franchise teams. Each franchise represents a major Pakistani city and fields a full squad of both men and women players. City identity, genuine rivalry, and local pride make every tie matter beyond the scoreboard. Franchise owners hold long-term stakes in their teams, ensuring stability and sustained investment in player development.

The Season

The CSL season opens with a full round-robin league phase in which every franchise faces every other franchise. The highest-finishing teams advance to a knockout playoff stage, with the top seeds earning home-advantage ties. The season concludes with the CSL Final, which crowns the champion city. Full season fixtures and venue details are announced ahead of each season.

Standings

Points are awarded for each tie win. Where two or more franchises finish level on points at the close of the league phase, match-win percentage serves as the primary tiebreaker. Standings are updated and published after every round so that fans and franchises can track the race for the playoffs in real time.

How Teams Win

Each tie between two franchise teams consists of a series of head-to-head singles matches drawn from both the men’s and women’s squads. The franchise that wins more individual matches takes the tie. All matches follow standard PSA (Professional Squash Association) rules: best of five games, each game scored to eleven points under the PAR (Point-a-Rally) system. The team with the superior combined performance wins; individual brilliance counts, but so does squad depth.

City Franchises

CSL brings top-flight squash to the streets, courts, and drawing rooms of Pakistan’s great cities. Each franchise is built around a city identity: its colours, its character, and its fans. Franchise teams carry their city’s name into every tie, turning each match into a contest between places as much as between players.

CSL participating city franchises, their squads, coaching staff, and ownership groups will be officially announced in the lead-up to the inaugural season. Investors and city groups interested in acquiring a franchise should contact the league through the official channel below.

Squad Composition

Every franchise fields both men and women players under a single team banner. This structure reflects the full breadth of Pakistani squash talent and ensures that women’s squash receives equal competitive standing within the league. Squads are assembled through a structured player-acquisition process, with dedicated slots for international recruits alongside domestic talent.

Franchise Ownership

CSL franchise rights are awarded through a formal process administered by Strawberry Sports Management. Prospective owners are evaluated on financial capacity, city commitment, and long-term sporting ambition. Ownership groups take on responsibility for squad management, venue liaison, and commercial development within their city territory, supported by central league services covering production, broadcast, and marketing.

Each city gets one team. Each team carries every player. One league. One champion.

Players

CSL is open to the best squash players in the world. Every franchise squad combines Pakistan’s elite ranked players, promising domestic talent, and international stars. Men and women compete under the same franchise banner, creating a shared team identity that spans both tours and both genders. The presence of international players raises the competitive standard of every tie and gives Pakistani players the chance to measure themselves against the world’s best in a home environment.

Who Plays in CSL

CSL follows a transparent player-acquisition process designed to maintain competitive balance across franchises. Each team fills its squad through a structured selection mechanism administered by the league. Salary and contract terms adhere to CSL player welfare guidelines, which meet international best-practice standards for professional squash. Full registration protocols and squad-announcement timelines are published ahead of each season.

Player Acquisition

CSL is committed to the welfare of every player who competes under its banner. The league operates medical and physiotherapy support at all venues, provides player liaison services, and observes the PSA’s anti-doping regulations in full. Travel, accommodation, and match-day logistics for players are coordinated centrally by the league operations team.

Player Welfare

Players wishing to enter the CSL player pool for franchise consideration should register through the official player registration portal. Registration is open to both Pakistani nationals and international players. Registered players are made available to franchises during the acquisition window ahead of each season.
